Aerosol Summit takes
to Nashville…
.
As we go to press, I’ve just returned from the dynamic, inaugural Aerosol Summit in
Nashville, TN. The two-day event was jam-packed with 14 presentations, an association
presidents meeting, CAPCO meeting and an aerosol manufacturing roundtable.
The Summit was co-hosted by the Eastern Aerosol Association (EAA), the Midwest Aerosol
Association (MAA), the National Aerosol Association (NAA), the Southern Aerosol Technical
Association (SATA) and the Western Aerosol Information Bureau (WAIB). Guest organizations,
which were each given the chance to promote their group to attendees, included
the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association (BAMA), the American Coatings Association
(ACA), the Graffiti Resource Council (GRC), the Household & Commercial Products Association
(HCPA), the Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) and the Nashville Convention
& Visitors Corp.
The event was virtually “standing room only” as 190 attendees poured into Nashville for a
happening that was originally expected to draw about 75 people.
This bodes well for future Aerosol Summits, as the response was enthusiastic. The Nashville
venue was fairly central to all of the U.S. and could be reached easily from multiple

EPA proposes aerosol can recycling…
In this issue’s Spray Patterns (p.46), we report that The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) has proposed a system for handling hazardous waste of aerosol cans that encourages
recycling. The EPA estimates it will also save at least $3 million per year in regulatory costs.
It’s early days yet, and the full scope of what this may mean to retailers and the aerosol industry
remains unseen as we go to press, but rest assured SPRAY will continue to keep readers

city and a fun place to explore on
one’s downtime. One attendee commented,
“Nashville is a great venue. It’s old history with
a new vibe—just like the aerosol industry.”
Others noted that the Summit “felt like a
family reunion,” while another mentioned it
was “neat to walk around and only see aerosol
