3M has named 30-year company veteran Mike
Roman as CEO. He will direct 3M’s five business
groups, along with the company’s international
operations. Roman served as COO &
Executive VP since July 2017 and previously led
3M’s Industrial group. Roman succeeds Inge
Thulin, who was named to the new position of
Executive Chairman of the Board, effective July
2018. Thulin has served as 3M’s Chairman of
the Board, President & CEO since 2012.
J. Brian Pitts has been promoted to The Lubrizol
Corp.’s corporate VP, CFO & Treasurer. Pitts
succeeds Brian Valentine, who will resign later
this year. Pitts has worked for Lubrizol since 1998
in accounting and finance assignments, including
in Shanghai as Director of Finance, Asia Pacific;
VP of finance for Advanced Materials and most
recently GM of TempRite Engineered Polymers.
Symrise has named Dr. Sabrina Behnke as a
Global Product Manager of Micro Protection.
She previously worked for Reckitt Benckiser as
a R&D Microbiologist where she led feasibility
studies for surface and personal care projects and
GLP claim substantiation initiatives for the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency. She also managed
clinical studies at contract labs for the Food
& Drug Administration and Business Processing
Reengineering for product brand registrations.
During her graduate studies, Behnke investigated
the disinfection of microbial biofilms in water distribution systems.

Penetrant maker the B’laster Corp. appointed Anthony Kruczek as
Senior Product Manager. Kruczek will manage the company’s product
portfolio, product life cycles and product development roadmap,
as well as support the company’s marketing and market research
activities. Previously, Kruczek managed key commercial accounts at
Matco Tools, and also held product management roles at JohnDow
Industries, ACCEL Performance Group and PolyOne. Kruczek is
also currently an MBA candidate at Baldwin Wallace University.
The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. has named Philippe Pinatel as Senior
VP, Global GM, MAC Cosmetics. Pinatel will join the Executive
Leadership Team and will report directly to John Demsey, Executive
Group President.He succeeds Karen Buglisi Weiler, who will move
into an advisory role in July and extend support to MAC Cosmetics
and The Estée Lauder Cos.’ North America Region. Pinatel
has more than 20 years of experience in retail operations at beauty
retailer Birchbox, Sephora Canada, Sephora Inside, JCPenney and
Guerlain International.
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) Board of Directors welcomed
two new directors: Carlos Linares, Executive VP, Global Research
& Development, Church & Dwight, and Suzanne Thompson,
Chief Technology Officer, Diversey. The Board re-elected
Shell Chemical’s Rutger Beelaerts, GM Intermediates Americas, as
Chair, and Procter & Gamble’s Sundar Raman, VP, North America
Fabric Care, as Vice Chair. Returning officers include Treasurer Joy

Obituary
Eugen Nussbaum, founder of The
Nussbaum Group, passed away on Feb.
24 at the age of 90. In 1963, Nussbaum
opened a can and tube manufacturing
company in Matzingen, Switzerland.
He personally pushed the innovation of
semi-automated production lines, which
ultimately led to fully-automated technology—
technical improvements and
principles that are still state-of-the-art
for the latest production machines, according to The Nussbaum
Group. After his retirement, he remained active in business and
continued to make significant contributions to the company.
He is survived by his wife Alice and his family.
