Spectrum Brands Holdings Inc. has merged with its top
shareholder HRG in a $10 billion deal. Spectrum Brands
Holdings Inc. is the parent company of Cutter Insect
Repellents, Rayovac batteries, George Foreman grills and
Remington personal care products.
Swallowfield plc, has acquired men’s grooming
brand Fish London Ltd., a London-based
company linked to the original Fish salon in
D’Arblay Street, for £2.7million ($3.7 million)
from KMI Brands Ltd.. The 15 year-old hair
styling brand currently retails in Boots, Superdrug, Tesco
and Waitrose. The acquisition follows Swallowfield’s recent
purchases of Real Shaving Co. in 2015 and The Brand
Architekts in 2016.
Luxury men’s skin care company Jack Black LLC has been
purchased by Edgewell Personal Care for an undisclosed
sum. Edgewell, the maker of shaving products such as
Schick and Skintimate and sun care products Banana Boat and
Hawaiian Tropic, currently has about 6,000 employees worldwide.
Jack Black, founded in Dallas in 2000, is known for its fragrance-free,
colorant-free, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, and dermatologist-tested men’s
skin care products.
Inter Parfums, Inc. has entered into 15-year license agreement with
GUESS?, Inc. to create, develop and distribute fragrances under the
GUESS brand starting April 1. The license agreement includes selling
to department, specialty and duty-free stores worldwide as well as
supplying new and existing fragrances to GUESS retail stores in the
Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. Inter Parfums plans
to launch its first new products under the GUESS umbrella in early
2020.
Netherlands-based plastic packaging supplier Weener Plastics (WP)
Group has acquired bottle manufacturer Artpack Ltd in Russia for an
undisclosed amount to further WP’s global expansion strategy. Artpack
Ltd, located in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region, produces
plastic bottles for the personal and home care industries.
Covit S.L., a leading manufacturer of metal parts, has been acquired
by Albéa from private equity fund PHI Industrial for an undisclosed
sum. This acquisition will provide Albéa with global metal capabilities
and expertise to transition into a global supplier of metal parts, particulary
for the fragrance and cosmetics markets. Torelló, Spain-based
Covit has expertise in stamping, anodizing and color matching as well
as dispensing systems.
Shin-Etsu Silicones Europe, a subsidiary of the Japan-based Shin-
Etsu Group, has created an agreement with DKSH Business Unit
Performance Materials to expand and market its silicone products
and in Switzerland. DKSH and Shin-Etsu Silicones had an existing
agreement to distribute silicones in France, Germany, Scandinavia,
Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
