Discover Beauty offered prearranged face-to-face meetings between start-up beauty brands and key retail buyers such as Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Barneys New York, Kohl’s and HSN. Spotlights was an exclusive initiative within the Discover Beauty program. The department store-like presentation served as a showcase for companies that are big on creativity yet smaller in size, but who are a prime fit for high-end retail stores, boutiques, salons and spas. Returning for the second year, the International Business Forum & Exhibition focused on the beauty supply chain business platform for companies specializing in contract manufacturing, packaging, machinery, original equipment manufacturers and raw materials. Other highlights included TV Shopping Channel auditions; the Boutique sampling bar showcasing deluxe premium-size samples from twenty exhibiting brands; Discover Scent featuring 13 niche fragrance brands; The Discover Beauty Award and the 2016 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA). Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), the award winning, business-to-business beauty event and meeting point for beauty professionals announced record-breaking exhibitor attendance and ticket sales for its event in July. Held annually at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, 33,750 attendees (a 12.5% increase from 2015) engaged with record-breaking 1,154 exhibitors representing 38 countries (a 12% increase from 2015). Attendees experienced new sections such as Discover Green and Glamour Me. The show floor space covered 280,991 sqf (26,105 sqm)—an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Discover Green was a special area dedicated to eco-friendly, clean, organic and/or natural beauty products.
