Cutting down on waste…
According to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
(USDA), food waste in the U.S. is estimated
at between 30–40% of the food supply. This
corresponds to approximately 133 billion
pounds and more than $161 billion worth of
food. This amount of waste has far-reaching
impacts on society, said USDA, as food that
could have helped feed families in need is
sent to landfills. Additionally, there is a waste
in resources as land, water, labor, energy and
other inputs used in production, processing,
transporting, preparing, storing and disposing
of discarded food are squandered.
These facts are daunting, but consumers
and marketers alike realize that aerosol-packaged foods are
designed for precise, efficient usage wherein waste and mess are
minimized. The consumer only uses what is needed, when it is
needed, and since aerosol foods are protected from light and
air, spoilage is greatly reduced. When finished, the containers
can be recycled.
Beyond being handy in the kitchen, sprays are extremely
useful when camping, traveling and in a pinch—and as we are
experiencing in this current health crisis—they have an increasingly
enhanced healthy and hygienic appeal.
