The Household & Consumer Products Association (HCPA) reported that
there were 571,241,363 aerosol food products filled in the U.S. in 2019. Market
research firm Ecovia Intelligence also noted a growing investment from
food manufacturers in 2020, as increasing consumer opposition to single-use
plastics is making the food industry take a hard look at packaging.
According to market research firm Euromonitor International, the COVID-19 pandemic
has significantly changed consumers’ relationship with food, altering considerations
when choosing what to buy and forcing them to rethink how to get the food they
need. A “new normal” has developed and consumers are looking to food to address
their fears, whether it’s comfort from nostalgia or healthier options during the inactivity
of lockdown. Either way, year-on-year sales growth of packaged food has risen dramatically
in 2020, with some categories seeing sales quadruple, said Euromonitor.
How does aerosol food fit into the “new normal?” By providing healthy options, fun
cooking and baking and, as always, convenience and ease-of-use.
