Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and difficulties in social distancing,
the Midwest Aerosol Association (MAA) has canceled its Annual
Meeting in November. Because MAA has canceled this and the
Annual Golf Outing in August, it will carry over any company’s or
individual’s 2020 membership into 2021. More info: okaytospray.com.
The Western Aerosol Information Bureau’s (WAIB) Board of Directors
has canceled its Annual Conference planned for November 2020
in Napa, CA. The organization is now planning a September 2021
Conference at the same location. More info: waib.org.
Cosmoprof, BORN and Needl are partnering to launch the second
edition of WeCosmoprof, the digital event dedicated to the cosmetic

X BORN from Oct. 12–16 for prestige design and lifestyle brands
and buyers.
WeCosmoprof will also collaborate with Beeonboard, Italian
Trade Agency (ITA), Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International
Cooperation and Cosmetica Italia personal care association.

The Aptar Group will close its Connecticut facilities in Torrington
and Stratford, laying off 290 people in the process, according to the
company. The layoffs will begin Sept. 15; the Torrington facility will
officially close by the end of December; the Stratford facility will be
shuttered by the end of March 2021. Both factories make packaging
for Aptar Beauty + Home, which will be consolidated to facilities in
Illinois, New Jersey and Mexico.
MBC Aerosol has revamped its portal. Located at mbc-aerosol.com,
the new website features FAQ about aerosol and bag-on-valve machine
filling, allows the uploading of photos for service questions and
has a wish-list maker.
Croda International Plc announced construction is underway for its
North American Headquarters & Innovation Centre near Princeton
NJ. The facility will feature an expanded lab and experience center.
CORRECTION
In SPRAY's recent Buyers Guide, Aero-Tech Laboratory Equipment
Company, LLC of Harrison, AR was omitted from the
CONSULTING category. Aero-Tech Labs provides consulting on
aerosol development, as well as laboratory planning and operations
for multiple industries, including colleges and government. The
company addresses safety, quality control, operational and maintenance
concerns prior to project commencement.
Industrial aerosol manufacturer B’laster
has acquired the AC Avalanche division
from TSI Products, Inc. With this transaction,
B’laster nearly doubles its revenue,
according to the company. The AC
Avalanche automotive aftermarket product
lines include Avalanche Gold, Black
Diamond Premium and A/C Avalanche
automotive refrigerants, as well as recharging
hoses and adapters. AC Avalanche will
remain in Arlington, TX while B’laster will
continue to operate out of its corporate headquarters in Valley View,
OH. The company plans to add employees in Valley View to support
both divisions.
L’Oréal has signed an agreement to acquire Thayers Natural
Remedies, an Easton, CT-based natural skin care brand from Henry
Thayer Co. It will be integrated into L’Oréal’s Consumer Products
Division. Thayers Natural Remedies was founded in 1847 and is best
known for its iconic Witch Hazel Aloe
Vera Formula Facial Toner. Terms of the
deal were not revealed.
Henkel is acquiring a 75% majority stake
in direct-to-consumer (D2C) business
Invincible Brands Holding, Berlin,
Germany. The merger will further expand
Henkel’s D2C activities, strengthen the
company’s competitive edge in digitalization
and enhance the company’s brand-building expertise. Invincible
Brands owns European brands such as HelloBody, Banana Beauty
and Mermaid+Me. Terms of the deal were not revealed, however,
Invincible Brands experienced sales of €100 million ($117.5 million)
from June 2019–June 2020 and has approximately 1.5 million
consumers. The remaining 25% stake in the business belongs to
Invincible Brands Holding’s Co-Founders Bjoern Keune and Gennadi
Tschernow.
Edgewell Personal Care Co. announced
it is acquiring CREMO, an
American men’s grooming company,
for $235 million. The acquisition is expected
to accelerate Edgewell’s growth
and position in the men’s grooming
category, and bolster CREMO’s geographic reach. The transaction is
expected to close by the end of the fiscal 2021’s first quarter.
Givaudan has completed the acquisition of Alderys, a French
biotechnology company headquartered in Orsay with 30 employees.
The company creates compounds from renewable feedstock for the
chemical, cosmetic and nutrition sectors. Alderys experienced sales of
€3 million ($3.5 million) in 2019.
Cosway Co. is acquiring ColorProof Color Care Authority, a
L’Oréal-owned brand for color-treated hair. Terms of the deal were
not disclosed; however, Cosway has been a silent, long-term investor
in ColorProof. According to reports, Cosway will continue to
develop, warehouse and supply the brand’s product portfolio.
