Obituary
86 Spray August 2017
In May, a coalition of associations continued its efforts to influence positive
change and build relationships in California by meeting with California
Air Resources Board (CARB) directors and staff. Representatives from
the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), National Aerosol
Association (NAA) and the Western Aerosol Information Bureau (WAIB)

staff person Nikita Korradi. The team also met with CARB staff Joe Calavita, Ravi Ramalingam, Jose Gomez and Karen Magliano,
emphasizing that rule making needs to be done at the state level. Rule 1168 (pertaining to adhesives and sealants) is of great concern
to the industry, as is South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) efforts to regulate products not covered under CARB
regulations, the team explained.
The coalition includes Nicole Quinonez, Randlett Nelson Madden; Roger Vanderlaan, Shield Packaging of CA; John Blum, Ball
Aerosol; John Davis, PLZ Aeroscience; Jim Johnson, Sherwin Williams; Ellen Melnitzke, Rackow Polymers; Mike Thaete, Aptar; Charlie
Ortmann, Diversified CPC Intl.; Steve Sanchez, Aeropres and Mary Metzner, NAA/WAIB.
