Events Eastern Energy Expo proves to be a hit Successfully combines three Industry events into one The Urban Dictionary defines “buzz” as “Anything that creates excitement or stimulus.” It might as well have been talking about the Eastern Energy Expo. Held in Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut in May, this three-way venture had “buzz” before, during and after. With a crowd of more than 4,000 (larger than seen in many years), more than 250 exhibitors and 50 education programs, the Eastern Energy Expo (EEE) answered the wish of many in the industry to combine, consolidate and condense the very busy and geographically diverse spring shows and convention season. As always, these events are measured, in large part, by the traffic on the trade show floor and EEE would be no different. From the actual number of people on the floor to the comments from many exhibitors, EEE certainly measured up to the high expectations, perhaps even exceeding them. Of course, it is always tricky to combine events without losing the identities of the original parties. However, it was clear from the educational programs and social events that those familiar and comfortable with the Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP), Atlantic Region Energy Expo (AREE) and Pennsylvania Petroleum Association (PPA) conventions felt at home at EEE. “Our goal in creating the Eastern Energy Expo was to provide a forum that brings all segments of the petroleum marketing industry together to network and learn,” stated Eric DeGesero, Executive Vice President of the Fuel Merchants Association. “Heating fuel marketers, motor fuel distributors and HVAC service professionals all came together in May as we generated a positive buzz within the industry with this new show.” Judy Garber, Executive Director, OESP, stated, “The joint show provided each of the partners the ability to sponsor an industry-wide convention and trade show and enabled each of the sponsors to reach a wider audience as our attendance and participation exceeded our projections. We offered four tracks of business programming during the event and the feedback to date has been very positive.” The show also hosted “Women in Energy” programming that generated great enthusiasm from the participants and its dynamic speakers and will be expanded for the upcoming convention in 2017. OESP Officers and Awards OESP took advantage of the event to announce its annual award winners, scholoarship awardees and officers.
