New liquid fuels research lab and training facility The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA), in conjuction with the New York Oilheat Association and the Oil Heat Comfort Corp., have opened the industy’s first fully dedicated research laboratory and training center. Located in Plainview, NY, the 5,000 sq. ft. center is equipped to support research and development projects by NORA and it s partners. The lab will be directed by Dr. Thomas Butcher, known to the industry for his decades of work at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The center, with a classroom and hands-on training space, will be the venue for oilheating education. From NORA appproved CEU classes to indepth certificaton courses, the facility will provide a state-of-the art setting for up to thirty students at a time. The training center, directed by John Levey, will be open to students for the first time on April 5th with an eighty-hour “Introduction to Oilheat” course.
