Enhancing user satisfaction
As a spray project continues, the consumer slowly empties the
can and starts to wonder if they will need to run back to the
store for another can, trying to gauge how much paint is left.
It’s interesting to think about project-sized offerings. I wonder
if a “bird house” or a “deck chair” sized can might be a helpful
way for people to gage how much paint they will need.
If it is a large project, a consumer’s finger may also start to
fatigue from pressing and holding the actuator down; they may
even have to switch to the non-dominant hand to give the finger
a break. A comfortable spray button is so easy
to incorporate into your packaging, and it makes
a tremendous difference for your end-user.
Design for confidence
As consumers get inspired by these fun, new
paint offerings—chalk, chalkboard, metallic, glitter,
fluorescent, marbleized, stained glass, crackle,
stone effects, etc.—it’s important that they feel
just as inspired with the results of their efforts.
By applying thoughtful design practices, we can
shorten their learning curve and strengthen their
confidence to plan for their next great creative
project. Spray
