CORRECTION
In the September issue, SPRAY incorrectly referred to Robert W.
“Bob” Svendsen Sr. as “Bob Chase.” Bob Svendsen was the son
of Carl Svendsen, founder of Chase Products Co., currently of
Broadview, IL. Among many significant contributions to the aerosol
industry, Bob Svendsen invented the Cap for Aerosol Bomb,
patented in 1951. We apologize for the confusion.

Ball Corp. has completed the acquisition of Tubex Industria E Comercio
de Embalagens Ltda., an impact extruded aluminum aerosol
packaging business that includes a manufacturing plant in Itupeva,
Brazil. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The business will become
part of Ball’s aluminum aerosol packaging division. It complements
Ball’s global aluminum aerosol and slug business in the Americas,
Europe and India, the company said. The Itupeva plant includes eight
extruded aluminum aerosol can lines, and produces personal care
packaging for global and local customers.
Voyant Beauty Holdings, LLC has finalized the acquisition of the
KIK Personal Care (KPC) business from KIK Custom Products.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition of KPC will
broaden Voyant Beauty’s product range, innovation and supply chain
capabilities, said the company. Combined, Voyant Beauty offers
expanded manufacturing capabilities through 15 facilities in North
America and internationally.
PLZ Aeroscience Corp. has acquired personal care contract
manufacturer Mansfield-King, LLC. Terms of the acquisition were
not disclosed.
Crown has launched Twentyby30, a program designed to accelerate
the company’s sustainability efforts in three areas: environmental,
social and governance. Twentyby30 outlines 20 measurable
goals to be achieved by 2030 or sooner, including climate action
resource efficiency, optimum circularity, working together and
never compromising. Crown will report its performance annually
through a combination of formal sustainability reports and thirdparty
reporting standards and indexes.
Coty Inc. is planning to sell factories to offset fallen revenues due
to COVID-19-related lockdowns and store closures, and a new
“asset-light” strategy, Chairman Peter Harf said. Coty has also
hired a new CEO, Sue Y. Nabi, who joined the company after
these decisions were made. Since the pandemic began, Coty has
laid off staff, and in June, promised to reduce fixed costs by $600
million over the next three years. It has also temporarily suspended
dividend payments.
Alpha Packaging has moved its Redlands, CA warehouse operations
into a third-party logistics warehouse run by Avanquest in
March Air Reserve Base, CA.
Amazon has established a Counterfeit Crimes Unit to bring
counterfeiters that violate the law and Amazon’s policies to justice
globally. The unit comprises former
Federal prosecutors, experienced
investigators and data analysts.
Amazon’s first objective is to prevent
a counterfeit item from ever being listed in its store. Amazon
reported that the company has invested more than $500 million
and involved the work of more than 8,000 employees, as well as
blocked more than 6 billion suspected bad listings in 2019 and
more than 2.5 million suspected bad actor accounts.
The U.S. Dept of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline & Hazardous
Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) has released an
updated version of its Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG). Issued
every four years, the guidebook is required for use by commercial
driver’s license (CDL) drivers hauling hazardous materials. ERG
2020 replaces ERG 2016 and is available to purchase online or
free via mobile download.
Under Federal regulations (49 CFR 172.602), a printed copy
of the most recent version of the ERG booklet or a printed copy
of information contained in Guide No. 128 for flammables and
combustibles must be kept onboard at all times. ERG 2020 edition
