June 2014 SPRAY 23 The first edition of NFPA 30B was published in 1990, followed by six revised editions. The 7th revision is due out in 2015. There was a dedicated effort to make sure that the further history of the ESFR was recorded properly, promoted by Dave Tabar of Sherwin-Williams, who worked tirelessly to assemble a video recording of the project. The WAIB, with Steve Sanchez as President, donated $10,000 to sponsor the video, which has since been converted to DVD; copies are still available. Looking back through the years at the development of the WAIB and that of the NAA (National Aerosol Association), SATA (Southern Aerosol Technical Association), MAA (Midwest Aerosol Association, previously AIDA Aerosol Industry Development Association), EAA (Eastern Aerosol Association), COAS (Council on Atmospheric Sciences), CAPCO (Consumer Aerosol Products Council) and TAG (The Aerosol Group), it is worth noting that our industry has raised well over $5 million for CAPCO and over $5 million for ESFR Storage & Warehousing. It has also raised equal amounts for public relations in the development of the APC (Aerosol Packaging Council) and the Genie from the Lamp of Science film, just to name a few. Our industry effort put us in a strong position of upward, resilient growth that kept us moving forward into the 21st century. SPRAY
