Diversified CPC International (DCPC), Channahon, IL, global supplier of aerosol propellants,
has provided a $25,000 donation to the People of Channahon Parks Foundation in support of
its Arroyo Trails Nature Park initiative. The company committed $15,000 to Phase 1 of the project,
and another $10,000 to Phase 2, which is currently under development.
“DCPC has deep roots in the Channahon community, and environmental and natural resource protection
is a critical part of our business philosophy,” stated DCPC President & CEO Bill Auriemma.
“As a result, we are incredibly proud to be a part of this project. Not only can our employees and the
entire community enjoy the park with their families, but it can also become an ecotourism opportunity
for visitors to explore that provides economic benefits to area hotels, restaurants, gas stations and retail
and specialty shops.”
The Arroyo Trails Park encompasses 78 acres of land and is named for the topography of the area
that was formed by glaciers over 10,000 years ago. Phase 1 of the project is a one-mile trail with
fitness stations, currently open to the public, for the discovery of local flora and fauna. Phase 2 will
include outdoor classroom and amphitheater, nature-themed playground with water play area and
pavilion shelter with restrooms. Nature-based educational programs will be offered throughout the year
for scout groups, summer camps and special events.

U.S. specialty waste company Clean Earth, Hatboro, PA, announced that
its Clean Earth Aerosol Recycling System expects to process 13 million
aerosol cans by the end of 2020 at its hazardous waste facility in Morgantown,
WV—an 85% increase from the company’s aerosol can recycling in
2015. According to the firm, the milestone is a direct result of its history
of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Final Rule compliance,
health and safety initiatives and the company’s recycling system technology,
specifically designed to service all coast-to-coast industries that produce aerosol,
loose spec paint and other consumer commodity waste. Nearly 3 billion
aerosol cans are produced in the U.S. each year, noted Clean Earth, who
projects its network to expand with additional recycling processing units by
2022.
Procter & Gamble’s Secret Deodorant brand is committing $1
million to the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association
(PWHPA) based in Toronto, Canada to help equalize opportunities
for female athletes. P&G noted that during the ongoing COVID-19
crisis, many men’s professional sports have continued to push forward,
however, women’s professional hockey had taken a back seat
and was in jeopardy of losing all of its recent momentum. Secret’s
funding will help ensure athletes are given an opportunity to play.
This year, 125 of the sport’s top players, including 38 Olympians
like Marie-Philip Poulin, Natalie Spooner, Sarah Nurse, Kendall
Coyne Schofield, Hilary Knight and Brianna Decker, will take the
ice in the Secret Dream Gap Tour with teams in Toronto, Calgary,
Montreal, Minnesota and New Hampshire.
Aerosol dispensing manufacturer LINDAL Group recently
won the European Aerosol Federation (FEA)
Packaging Element Design award for its patent protected
Bag-and-Bag (BAB) technology. A pressurized packaging
system, BAB contains two chambers inside the same
can, providing the capacity to package and dispense two
incompatible formulations in the same pack. One of its
key differentiators is the use of a centered Bi-Power Valve
instead of two separate stems. This eliminates the need to
orientate the can during the filling process
and allows existing equipment to be used
with limited adjustments. Consumers also
benefit, said LINDAL, because the centered
stem allows a more equal distribution of the
two formulas because, during use, pressure
is applied more evenly, resulting in improved
user experience. BAB also incorporates
traditional bag-on-valve (BOV) features, including
sealed packaging, extended shelf life,
continuous dispensing, an overall improved
user experience and a 96–98% evacuation
rate depending on product viscosity.
In addition, BAB extends opportunities for
new applications as it allows products that
were originally and exclusively designed for
non-aerosols to be used with aerosols.
