Stretham Youth Centre in Cambridgeshire, UK has signed up as one of the UK’s first public collection points for AEROCYCLE, a project that turns used aerosol cans into outdoor community gyms. The plan aims to enable people to recycle empty antiperspirant and deodorant aerosols while raising funds for the youth centre. For every 400 aerosols the centre sends for recycling, £8 ($10) will be donated to the Stretham Youth Centre and used to provide recreational and leisure facilities for young people. The collected empty aerosol AP/deos will be converted to produce aluminum for use in new outdoor gyms in UK locations that will incorporate a number of fitness equipment pieces including a spinning bike, cross trainer, recumbent bike, monkey bars, pull ups, dips, leg raise, stretch posts and plyometric platforms. Marketing firm Research & Markets forecasts the global aerosol packaging market to grow at 3.67% during 2016–2020. A key trend for market growth is the increasing use of deodorants and antiperspirants, especially among youths. According to Research & Market’s Global Aerosol Packaging Market 2016–2020 report, growth of the hairspray market will also be a key driver in the global aerosol packaging market. Technological innovation in hairspray products has a direct bearing on their use. Consumers are now looking for more efficient and novel products that are better matched to their lifestyle requirements. Consequently, vendors are introducing technologically advanced products that are priced slightly higher than traditional ones. Hair volume reduction mousses, cosmeceutical hair styling products, thermal protection hairsprays and antiaging hairsprays are some of the new products that have gained considerable consumer interest. The global hairspray market was valued at $3.73 billion in 2015 and is likely to grow 19.1% during the forecast period. 54 Spray December 2016
