Britain‘s Best   New Aerosol of the Year 26 Spray December 2016 BAMA award winners announced Winner: Permalock by CRC Industries UK LTD Permalock is a new aerosol closure that was developed to specifically help eliminate the risk of foreign body product contamination while servicing or maintaining food and beverage production. It is a non-detachable spray system with dual position spray. The aerosol has no detachable pieces that can fall off which could lead to contamination of goods and exposing food manufacturers and processors to product recalls. It was described by the judges as “a small change in technology that has provided a great benefit and helps prevent accidental loss of caps or valves which might otherwise lead to costly recalls.” Permalock was also awarded runner-up in the Aerosol Packaging Award category. Aerosol Packaging Award Winner: Ball Corporation Fa Men Attraction Force Aerosol Deodorant won for its use of the ReAl light-weight can, a lighter extruded aluminum can manufactured with new metal technology. It utilizes recycled aluminum to create a metal alloy that exhibits increased strength and allows light-weighting by approximately 15% without affecting package integrity. The Attraction Force can is also the first with a flat shoulder design in Ball’s ReAl packaging. Runner up: The Eco-Burner refill aerosol can was a runner up in both the New Aerosol of the Year and Sustainability Award categories. The collaboration between Scitra and Eco-Burner provided a zero fuel waste, fully recyclable, 795mL butane/propane filled aerosol can that helps ensure the Eco-burner Chafo’s range replacement fuel burner for the hotel, catering and restaurant industries can be refilled in a safe, convenient and environmentally safe manner. The winning entries in the 2016 British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) Awards were announced Oct. 19 at the annual BAMA Awards dinner held at The Belfry Hotel in Sutton Coldfield, UK. The winners were selected by a panel of judges drawn from the worlds of retail, politics and environmental sustainability: Paul Broadhead, Technical Manager of Morrison’s; Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage; and Zoe Le Grand, Principal Sustainability Advisor for Forum for the Future. Sustainability Award Winner: Arrow Chemicals a trading brand of Reabrook Limited Arrow Solutions developed a range of industrial compressed air aerosols effective in cleaning electrical and mechanical components used by the rail industry.
