Personal care pumps…
Morphing from utilitarian germ-killers to
hand care essentials, many new hand sanitizer
launches feature essential oils, vitamin
infusions and soothing scents. For instance,
Supernatural Hand Sanitizer in Coconut &
Lavender contains 65% ethyl alcohol, as well
as a “sanitizing elixir” of coconut, jojoba,
almond, lavender and safflower oils. The
product comes in a reusable 8 oz. glass bottle
that contains over 3,000 high-frequency
spritzes. Additionally, Supernatural plants
two trees for every purchase.
The new 70% ethyl alcohol
Whish Hand Sanitizer comes in
a handy pump bottle, and like all
of Whish’s products, is Leaping
Bunny-certified and free of
parabens, sulfate, petrochemicals
and phthalate. It contains peppermint
oil for a fresh scent and
is naturally sourced.
New Zealand-based The
Bonbon Factory recently
launched an Instant Hand
& Trolley Sanitiser in a mist
spray for both people and
shopping carts. Key ingredients
include 69% alcohol
and vitamin E. It comes in a
125mL spray, a 40mL travel spray with refill and a mist pen. The
product offers a vanilla scent and no order limits.
Suppliers, fillers & marketers step up…
The COVID-19 pandemic and high demand for certain products
have caused shortages up and down the supply chain. Suppliers
and fillers didn’t complain; they adapted.
Chile-based Condensa is partnering with Latin American
marketers to launch new hand sanitizing products in aluminum
aerosol cans; the products contain alcohol, nano-copper, glycerin
and other ingredients to support the ongoing efforts to combat
the spread of COVID-19. According to Condensa, the hand
sanitizers are packaged in recyclable and sustainable packaging
that also supports upcoming Chilean legislation meant to hold
producers of products responsible
for the waste management
and recyclability
of their products.
This legislation is
expected to begin
phase-in in 2021.
Ontario-based
contract aerosol
packager Empack
Spraytech
Inc. has ramped
up production
of zytec Germ
Buster hand
sanitizer in an
aerosol during
the COVID-19
pandemic and has prioritized deliveries for Canadian
hospitals and essential workers through its Donations
Program. The prioritized products include
continuous BOV spray gels with 70% alcohol and
moisturizers, available in 300- and 100mL sizes,
and disinfecting sprays with 80% alcohol, available
in 500mL, 250mL, 100mL and 35g sizes.
Manufacturing has been maximized at Empack
Spraytech with hopes to produce 150,000 units
a day. To do so, an additional 23 employees were
hired, along with increased pay for full-time employees
and mandated workplace safety regulations.
Hand San Scent Odor Control Additive for
Sanitizers from Alpha Aromatics is an odor control
additive that reduces “smelly” odors in hand
sanitizers. The firm’s master perfumers developed
an effective odor-reducing solution to help solve
the problem of “noxious” and “off-putting” scents
sometimes found in unscented sanitizers. Fresh fragrances
include Mint, Cucumber, Clean Lemon, Apple and Eucalyptus
Lavender.
Personal care marketer Revlon Inc. and personal care,
fragrance and flavor supplier Symrise have leveraged their longstanding
partnership to develop, manufacture and distribute
hand sanitizer. To support communities during the COVID-19
pandemic, Symrise rapidly re-engineered manufacturing lines
to enable the production of a new, FDA-compliant formula,
while Revlon leveraged existing packaging. Both companies are
working with local governments to support those near Revlon’s
Oxford, NC facility as well as Symrise’s Teterboro, NJ facility.
Products were distributed to hospitals, front-line county workers,
EMS personnel, police and fire departments through North
Carolina’s Healthcare Preparedness Coalition and the CEO of
Bergen County’s Executive Branch in New Jersey.
