Many thanks to SPRAY readers for the
overwhelming response to our inaugural
Aerosol Cartoon Caption Contest. We
received loads of funny responses and
had a very hard time choosing; however,
the captions that received the most votes
from our staff are listed at right. We’ll
be running the contest again later in
the year, so if your caption didn’t win,
please try again next time!

Right Guard deodorant, from Henkel, has launched a gym made with
more than 2,500 deodorant cans at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in
London, UK. The new facility was developed in partnership with recycling
firm TerraCycle and the Great Outdoor Gym Co. The public donated
empty cans at 50 drop-off points set up by TerraCycle and Right Guard,
which were then “repurposed to create premium gym equipment.”
“The initiative to create the Right Guard AEROCYCLE gym has
enabled us to construct an environmentally friendly space from recycled
aerosols and also to contribute a long term, valuable resource to the local
community,” said Mark Crane, GM of Henkel Beauty Care UK &
Ireland
Chris Baker, GM of TerraCycle Europe, added “The opening of this
gym is the kind of initiative that gets the public excited about recycling and
sustainability.”

Vanilla supplier Symrise, Unilever and Deutsche Gesellschaft für
Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH have joined forces
with Save the Children to help improve the livelihoods of vanilla
farming communities in the Sava region of Madagascar. The partnership
is partly financed through the develoPPP.de program of the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development
(BMZ).
The three-year initiative will address some of the complex social
and economic issues that affect people working in the vanilla supply
chain. It will provide direct support to farmers, as well as the wider
community, to improve their livelihoods, build more inclusive
communities and provide better opportunities for children. The
program plans to reach 50,000 people in 10,000 households, across
70 villages. An estimated 70% of people in these communities live
below the poverty line and have very unstable incomes, according to
Symrise. Spray
