Mergers & Acquisitions Procter & Gamble (P&G) confirmed that the Cincinnati, OH-based company sold its TAG body spray line to My Imports USA, which plans to revive what was once a major brand. P&G announced in 2010 that it planned to eliminate production of TAG sprays to focus on its Gillette, Old Spice and Secret antiperspirant and deodorant brands. L’Oréal announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire IT Cosmetics for a cash purchase price of $1.2 billion. Additionally, the company announced the signature of an agreement to acquire Atelier Cologne. Scott’s Liquid Gold, Inc. recently announced its acquisition of the Prell, Denorex and Zincon brands of hair and scalp care products from Ultimark Products, Inc. for a purchase price of approx. $9.1 million. Croda International Plc announced that it has acquired the technology portfolio of Inventiva Ltda., based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This transaction, completed by Croda Brazil, adds Inventiva’s encapsulation and delivery system technologies to the company’s range of ingredients for the personal care industry. Dolce & Gabbana and Shiseido Group announced the signature of a worldwide exclusive license agreement, beginning Oct. 1. The agreement includes development, manufacturing and distribution of Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance, makeup and skincare lines and products by Shiseido Group. International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) and Unilever announced a new partnership with leading nongovernmental organizations to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder vetiver farmers in Haiti. The partnership, Vetiver Together, aims to sustainably improve food security, increase yields and diversify income, while working to support women’s empowerment and environmental conservation. Shiseido Americas Corp., a subsidiary of Shiseido Company, Limited, announced it has completed its acquisition of Gurwitch Products, LLC, a marketer of global cosmetics and skincare brands, from Alticor Inc. Givaudan announced a newly expanded collaboration with the industrial bioscience company Amyris, Inc. in the research, development and production of active cosmetic ingredients. Perfumer Jean-Paul Guerlain, who retired from the Guerlain house in 2002, will join French perfumery start-up My Exclusive Collection. The first perfumes for Men and Women will be released at the beginning of 2017. Produced in France, the perfumes will also be included in a line of cosmetics and products for facial and body care. Whitehall Partners LLC has acquired Naturally Uncommon, an ecofriendly manufacturer of men’s and women’s personal care products, for an undisclosed sum. The company’s products are developed in-house and produced from its manufacturing facility in New Hampshire. VMG Partners has announced that it has completed the sale of personal care (skin care, bath care, sun care, oral care, hand hygiene, etc.) and household brand Babyganics to SC Johnson for an undisclosed sum. TerraVia, food, nutrition and specialty ingredients company, announced it has entered into an agreement to sell a majority interest in the Algenist skincare brand to Tengram Capital Partners, a private equity firm. 46 Spray September 2016
