Commentary
This month, Commentary is provided by guest editorialist Roger Vanderlaan,
Past President of the Western Aerosol Information Bureau (WAIB).
Thank you for the privilege
to serve this great industry
Our story is a simple one. The Western Aerosol Information Bureau (WAIB) is a
group of individuals who believe in the products that we make, the people we
serve and attaining our goals.
The WAIB Board of Directors gives freely of its time to better the aerosol industry. I
am privileged to serve with these Board Members:
6 Spray October 2018
Our mission is: To Protect, Promote, and
Grow the spray products industry. We see
our role as regional with national implications.
We are “the boots on the ground” in
California. We are faces for the industry. We
carry with us the message that the products
we make are “solutions for better living,” we
are passionate about our aerosol packages and
the benefits of this product form.
Last year, the volunteer WAIB Board of
Directors participated in monthly board meetings;
the birth of the aerosol promotional
campaigns Make More Magic and Mist:Understood; California Air Resources Board
(CARB) Consumer Product Regulation, Multi-purpose Lubricant Workshop (January
2018); and the Aerosol Dispensing Forum (September
2017 and 2018). WAIB co-sponsored the
Aerosol Summit in March 2018 in Nashville, TN.
WAIB also participated in the CARB Aerosol 101,
held in August 2018 in Sacramento, CA and the
California Manufacturers Association Legislative
Day. A WAIB/NAA Conference is scheduled for
Oct. 13–15, 2019 in Scottsdale, AZ following their
2017 Conference in Napa, CA.
WAIB is a member of the California Manufacturer
Association and prides itself on cooperating
with other organizations: The South Coast Air Quality Management District (calling
on SCAQMD Board Member Shawn Nelson), the Household & Commercial Product
Association, California Manufacturers & Technology Association, the National Aerosol
Association, the Southern Aerosol Technical Association, the Personal Care Products
Council, the Eastern Aerosol Association and the Midwest Aerosol Association, working
well with them in 2017–2018.
“We believe the only way to predict the future is to create it.”
Respectfully,
Roger Vanderlaan
