AEROBAL announces World Aluminum Aerosol Can Award winners The International Organization of Aluminum Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBAL) announced the winners of the World Aluminum Aerosol Can Award 2016. AEROBAL’s member companies account for about 70% of all aluminum aerosol cans produced worldwide, according to the organization, and entries are invited from all over the world. The expert judges were comprised of journalists from well-known international packaging and can magazines. The “She is a Clubber” aluminum can from Turkish producer Aryum won in the Cans Already on the Market category with a persuasive concept for countering product piracy. The owner of the popular “She” brand, Hunca Cosmetics, experiences high instances of product counterfeiting in the Middle East and northern Africa. Aryum suggested its customer should make the can more counterfeit-proof by using a shaping technique oriented towards the printed image. 34 Spray November 2016 On the front of the can there is now distinctive embossing in the vivid shape of a heart with the brand name printed in the center; the brand name is printed on the back of the can as well, in embossing that runs all around the can. The interplay of shape and print offers a new look and the coloring of the rest of the can catches the eye. The “Purity” can from German manufacturer Tubex won in the Prototypes category. According to Tubex, it is the first aluminum aerosol can that foregoes internal and external lacquering. This improves cost economy, shortens the production process, improves mechanical product standards and requires smaller investments in machinery for a reduced ecological footprint due to less energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions. According to the manufacturer, it’s possible to further optimize some of the can’s mechanical properties at the same time, such as a higher burst pressure.
