Mergers & Acquisitions Metal Packaging Europe, Beverage Can Makers Europe (BCME) and European Metal Packaging (EMP) will merge into one association, retaining the name Metal Packaging Europe. According to the group, it will form a more efficient and powerful organization representing all members of the supply chain and unifying the industry’s voice. The Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging (APEAL) was one of the four founding members of the original Metal Packaging Europe in 2011 and will be an active member of the new group. It has welcomed the launch of Metal Packaging Europe as an overarching European association that brings together 42 Spray May 2017 manufacturers, suppliers and national associations to promote the benefits of rigid metal packaging. Solvay and Nexeo Solutions, Inc. announced that, effective April 20, Nexeo Solutions became an authorized distributor of the Solvay Aerosol Surfactant Chemistry, formerly sold by Cytec Industries Inc., in the U.S.and Canada. Solvay acquired Cytec Industries in 2015, and will continue to supply the products with the same manufacturing location, process and sales specifications. Coty Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the exclusive long-term global license rights for Burberry Beauty luxury fragrances, cosmetics and skin care. Under the agreement, Coty will develop, manufacture and distribute the full range of Burberry Beauty products globally. At the same time, Shiseido announced that it has terminated its global distribution agreements with Burberry. Colep announced the strengthening of its European liquids and creams business through investments in two new liquids plants in Kleszczów, Poland and Bad Schmiedeberg, Germany, as well as the subsequent intention to sell off its current Zülpich site in Germany to the Burnus Group. Both new liquids and creams plants will be connected to the existing aerosol contract manufacturing sites, allowing Colep to deliver a wide range of products and packaging technologies from one site. Stone Canyon Industries announced the closing of its purchase agreement to acquire Mauser Group N.V., a global supplier of rigid packaging products and services for industrial use, from Clayton, Dubilier & Rice through its subsidiary BWAY Corp., a North American manufacturer of rigid metal, aerosol and plastic containers. The all-cash transaction is valued at approximately $2.3 billion. Under a recent agreement, LVMH will acquire a majority share in Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrance house. Marc Chaya and Francis Kurkdjian will continue in their current roles as CEO and Creative Director, respectively, and will remain shareholders of the company. DKSH, a market expansion services provider with a focus on Asia, and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) have signed an agreement to provide market expansion services for a broad range of J&J’s over-the-counter and consumer health products in Hong Kong. The broad range of products under the agreement include Regaine, Listerine, Aveeno, Neutrogena, Anusol, Gelusil, Imodium, Nicorette, Nizoral, Pregaine, Trosyd, Bandaid, Carefree and Johnson’s Baby. In total, DKSH will look after more than 20 J&J brands.
