“In our research, we decided that Sea & Ski, an iconic American brand, was the perfect vehicle to deliver our product and message to the consumer,” explained Lisa Eckert, Cross Brands Manufacturing VP of Sales. She continued, Sea & Ski’s unique look and scent still stimulates the fondest of memories from a core target consumer group. We purchased worldwide rights to the brand in May 2016. One fact that weighed on our team’s mind was that incidence of skin cancer continues to rise, despite a reported increased sunscreen usage. Research shows that UVA and UVB— ultra violet light—is not the only part of the sun’s spectrum that causes long term skin damage. Cross Brands developed formulas that deliver protection beyond the UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays from the sun. Our formulas provide Infrared-A protection within the skin’s cells. Exposure to heat from the sun (infrared radiation) can cause damage within cells (free radicals) that overwhelm the bodies’ own antioxidant defenses. Sea & Ski formulas offer protection to combat this reaction. Although Sea & Ski was not traditionally known for spray products, continuous sprays represent approximately 40% of the consumer purchases. To help meet the convenience needs of today’s consumer, Cross Brands included both Spray Mist products and lotions in our line-up. We worked with our suppliers to select an ergonomic can and a new push/pull trigger actuator that gives consumers easy, 360 degree spraying capability. Montebello Packaging manufactured the 53mm diameter X 175mm can with white base coating, comfort hold shape, DOT 2P pressure rating, epoxy phenolic interior liner and 18 Spray May 2017 Older men still favor indoor tanning… Indoor tanning rates are on the decline among men and women, according to a recent study published in JAMA Dermatology that analyzed data from the National Health Interview Survey. However, the one group that continues to cling to indoor tanning habits is older men, who also have the highest rates of skin cancer. Among men who tan indoors, those aged 40-49 and 50 and older are respectively 177% and 71% more likely to remain frequent tanners than younger men. Natural alternatives… Interest in natural offerings also helped to boost Sun Care market growth in 2016, according to Mintel, encouraging consumers to trade up to higher priced items from niche brands.
