The Midwest Aerosol Association (MAA) announced that
its Spring Meeting will be held on April 19 at Cooper’s Hawk
Winery & Restaurant in Arlington Heights, IL. Additionally, the
MAA will hold its Annual Golf Outing on Aug. 14 at the Seven

The Eastern Aerosol Association (EAA) announced its Annual
Golf Outing will be held Aug. 2 at Crystal Springs Golf Club,

serve as a hub for the Middle East to ensure timely delivery of

To better serve North American and Asian customers, BASF
plans to grow its global Alkyl Polyglucosides (APG) production
capacity with two production expansion projects at sites in Cincinnati,
OH and Jinshan, China. This will also ease the capacity
concerns at its APG plant in Duesseldorf, Germany. APGs are
surfactants used for mildness and foam improvement in personal
care applications such as facial wash, body wash and shampoo.
They are also applied in home care for dish washing detergents,
laundry and surface cleaners.
Beacon Engineering Co., Inc. has relaunched its EVAC 1 Aerosol Can
Disposal & Product Recovery System. The machine has been redesigned
and the new modification allows customers to retain the propellant from
the cans contaminate free. While the new
EVAC 1 looks the same, the internal parts
are changed for this feature. It continues to
capture and contain more than 95% of gases
and liquids during crushing operation for
safe disposal or recovery.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has posted a discontinuation
notice for Aerospan (flunisolide) inhalation aerosol
80mcg strength. Aerospan, an orally inhaled corticosteroid, is
indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and
children. Parent company Mylan stated the discontinuation was
a business decision and not related to the product’s quality, safety
or efficacy.
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) launched “Exploration
Clean,” an online experience aimed at teaching middle-school
students the science and chemistry behind cleaning. This is the
first step in creating a platform containing educational modules
for children describing the science and engineering that goes
into cleaning products. ExplorationClean.org extends ACI’s efforts
to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)
education, which originated with 2016’s “The Science of Soap”
exhibit and online education materials. The program engages
students by introducing them to the basics of soap, detergent and
cleaning product chemistry. The site also talks about the ingredients
in cleaning products and the benefits these products provide
to everyday living.
Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors (ICMAD)
has announced that it is expanding its Dallas, TX office,
maintaining its Washington, DC office and closing its Deer Park,
IL office.
Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) has officially

Cosmetics & Design (PCD) was held in January and, according
to show organizers, broke new records. With 7,224 attending professionals
and nearly 500 exhibitors from around the world, the event
grew over 25% compared with the 2017 edition.
The packaging trade show featured over 70 presentations and round
tables with a focus on transfers of technologies, digital and sustainable
development; two awards ceremonies; the Accelerator featuring start-up
companies; the Innovation & Technology Theatre; and the Pentawards
Exhibit packaging design showcase. The 13th edition of ADF and the
15th anniversary edition of PCD will be held Jan. 30–31 at Porte de
Versailles(Hall 7), Paris, France.
