Mergers & Acquisitions Silgan Holdings Inc., a supplier of rigid packaging for consumer goods products, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with WestRock Company to acquire its specialty closures and dispensing systems business. The business is a supplier of engineered triggers, pumps, sprayers and dispensing closure solutions to branded consumer goods product companies in the home, health and beauty markets. It operates a global network of 13 plants across North America, Europe, South America and Asia. Additionally, WestRock Company and Multi Packaging Solutions International Limited (MPS) announced that a definitive agreement has been reached for WestRock to acquire all of the outstanding shares of MPS. The acquisition will strengthen WestRock’s presence in the growing health care and consumer markets that includes beauty, cosmetics, spirits and confectionary. Berry Plastics Group, Inc. completed the previously announced acquisition of plastic packaging manufacturer AEP Industries Inc. (AEP), Montvale, NJ. 46 Spray March 2017 Coty Inc. announced it would buy a 60% stake in privately held online cosmetics retailer Younique LLC for about $600 million. International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. announced that it has successfully completed the previously announced acquisition of Fragrance Resources. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The Lubrizol Corp. announced that Active Organics, a provider of natural extracts and performance ingredients, and Lipotec LLC, a company in active ingredients for skin care, will now be combined and operate under the name Lipotec USA, Inc. Under the new name, Lipotec USA, Inc. will be located at Active Organics, Inc.’s current location in Lewisville, TX. AkzoNobel signed a framework joint development agreement with specialty chemicals company Itaconix to explore opportunities for the production of bio-based polymers. With this agreement, AkzoNobel will pursue the development and commercialization of bio-based polymers, while Itaconix will contribute a proprietary polymerization technology to turn itaconic acid—obtained from sugars through fermentation—into polymers. Ecolab Inc. announced that it has closed on its previously announced acquisition of Laboratoires Anios, a hygiene and disinfection products manufacturer primarily for the health care market. Jarchem Industries Inc. announced they will be partnering with Pacific Coast Chemicals for the distribution of personal care products on the West Coast. Azelis Americas, part of the Azelis Group, has acquired Ross Organic, a specialty distributor into the personal care and home care/industrial cleaning markets located in Santa Fe, CA. A purchase price was not disclosed. Elementis plc announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire SRLH Holdings, Inc. (SummitReheis) from an affiliate of One Rock Capital Partners, LLC. SummitReheis will become part of an enlarged personal care business within Elementis. Evonik announced it has acquired Air Products, specialty additives business. The former Air Products Schlüchtern GmbH includes a number of innovative encapsulation technologies for active cosmetic ingredients and multifunctional polymers.
