Mergers & Acquisitions June 2017 Spray 27 L’Oréal USA announced that SalonCentric, its professional salon distribution operation, has agreed to acquire key assets from Four Star Salon Services, a full-service wholesale distributor headquartered in Hauppauge, NY. This acquisition will provide SalonCentric with expanded distribution coverage of salon professional products within New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Ashland Global Holdings Inc. announced that its subsidiary has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately owned Pharmachem Laboratories, Inc.—manufacturer and supplier of custom and branded fragrance and nutritional products—for $660 million. Symrise AG—supplier of fragrances, flavorings, cosmetic base materials— has become the newest member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. announced that it has joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab to further explore sense research. AkzoNobel has teamed up with two organizations focused on supporting start-ups: Lux Research and StartupDelta. The partnerships will focus on developing business opportunities stemming from the company’s Imagine Chemistry start-up challenge. Designed to solve real-life chemistry challenges, the initiative has attracted more than 200 submissions. The partnerships will further strengthen AkzoNobel’s approach to open innovation. The Aerosol Association of Australia and its UK counterpart, the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) have signed a reciprocal cooperation agreement that will see the two associations work together to share information and cooperate on a range of initiatives, including in the areas of sustainability and training. Aerosol Association of Australia President, David Cowper, welcomed the signing of the agreement, noting that the two associations had a close, informal relationship that dated back over three decades.
