Industry News June 2016 Spray 39 Ball Corp. launched a new, redesigned website at www.ball.com, which unites its packaging and aerospace businesses as well as its global regions. Based on feedback from Ball stakeholders, including customers, the site’s content is designed to inspire through imagery, product and program information, videos, downloads and other new features. The home page and main navigation also make it quick and easy for site visitors to access content and explore solutions. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has launched its comprehensive ingredients database, Prospector. The database enables manufacturers to access everything they need to know about personal care and cosmetics ingredients quickly and easily. Prospector contains technical information on more than 20,000 ingredients from hundreds of suppliers, speeding up R&D processes, providing a one-toone connection between manufacturers and suppliers. Access to the website is completely free, with premium tools also available for purchase. Users can search via the Prospector website or app for iOS and Android devices. Heitkamp & Thumann Presspart launched an updated logo. The new logo will not result in any operative changes for customers and business partners. The legal company names, addresses and contact data, such as telephone, fax, as well as email addresses and previous contact persons, will remain the same. The update of the logo structure follows a change to the organizational structure of the Heitkamp & Thumann Group. The H&T Presspart companies are now one of two divisions within the group. Additionally, Lolette Anderson was appointed Sales Office Manager. Croda completed a $3.5 million facility and laboratory renovation project at its North American Headquarters in Edison, NJ. Givaudan’s active cosmetics business has rebranded as Active Beauty, with the mission to bring beauty to the world. Additionally, Givaudan marked the start of the construction of a new innovation center in Kemptthal, Switzerland, a CHF 120 million ($123.4 million) investment. The new center for innovation is anticipated to open in 2019. Symrise opened “Symrise Parsian”—its own site in Tehran, Iran. Symrise will set up sales offices and application-specific laboratories at the site. Ashland launched Natrostone H30 rheology modifier, a water-soluble polymer specifically designed to thicken liquid-applied stone paint and create the natural look and feel of stone. It imparts stone paint with excellent application, better sprayability and stability, good water resistance and more efficiency for applicators. Firmenich announced the opening of its new plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new plant will serve more than 100 customers across 10 markets globally, significantly increasing Firmenich's footprint in Argentina. BASF now offers 145 ingredients for personal and home care products that have been certified to the international halal standard HAS 23000: Along the entire value chain, strict guidelines for raw material purchasing, manufacturing, filling, warehousing, and transport are followed to ensure product purity in compliance with Islamic law. A new R&D center was inaugurated by Alban Muller International in January, during its annual convention at Fontenay-Sur-Eure, France where its head office and its industrial production site are established. This new center is sectioned into two new laboratories: one is dedicated to the development of high tech cosmetic actives and one is dedicated to the development of finished products. Care, North America, Firmenich Inc.; Douglas Troutman, ACI General Counsel and VP Government Affairs, was re-elected as Corporate Secretary and Ernie Rosenberg is returning as President & CEO. The newest members of the Board include: Audra Davies, VP Health, Beauty & Home Product Development, Amway; Paul Siracusa, Executive VP Global R&D, Church & Dwight, Inc.; and Rick Hanson, VP Croda, Inc. Additionally, Suzanne Thompson is the recipient of the 2016 ACI Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award. Thompson worked in R&D at The Clorox Co. for 29 years as VP R&D, Growth Labs, as well as leading global technology, design, and open innovation. She also had roles leading Cleaning and Specialty Division R&D teams for Clorox. She joined Sealed Air in 2015 as VP R&D for Diversey Care. IFRA North America announced its Board of Directors appointed Farah Ahmed as President & CEO. Ahmed joins IFRA North America from the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), where she most recently served as Chair, Strategic Industry Categories. Ahmed succeeds Jennifer Abril, who has served as President since 2008. Belle Aire Creations announced the promotion of Stacey David to Sr. Account Executive. David was previously Account Executive for five years and will continue to develop strategic partnerships with key accounts throughout various domestic locations. David Kevin Gallagher, Croda International PLC’s recently retired President of Global Personal Care & Actives division was announced as the winner of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at this year’s In-Cosmetics Exhibition in Paris, France. Christoph Kolano joined Lonza Consumer Care in the role of Associate Director Global Portfolio Development for its Personal Care business.
