June 2016 Spray 37 CCL Industries Inc. announced it has acquired Zephyr Company Limited, headquartered in Singapore, and its two Malaysian subsidiaries in Penang and Johor. Purchase price is estimated at $39 million and includes a manufacturing facility in Singapore. Avon Products, Inc. announced a new global fragrance partnership with internationally renowned designer Kenzo Takada. LIFE by Kenzo Takada includes a scent for men and women and will launch in October. Endura SpA, manufacturer of the synergist Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO), and Horizon Sopyrwa Ltd, one of the producers of natural pyrethrum extract, reached a long-term strategic agreement to market natural pyrethrum via Endura’s worldwide commercial network. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. announced it has acquired NeoStrata Company, Inc., a global leader in dermocosmetics. The acquisition will include NeoStrata’s affiliates and Mergers & Acquisitions parent company TriStrata, Inc., a privately-held company. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition expected to close in the first half of 2016. Airopack Technology Group AG (ATG) announced it has reached an agreement regarding the acquisition of 50% of the Airolux AG joint venture currently owned by Resilux NV. The acquisition will allow ATG to fully utilize ATG’s Airopack technology. ATG will pay a cash consideration of €25 million ($28 million) to acquire Resilux’s 50% stake in Airolux. ATG will also repay Resilux’s outstanding shareholder loans and financial debts to Airolux of around €37 million ($39 million). Furthermore, ATG will enter into a Global Preferred Supply Agreement with Resilux under which Resilux will have the first right to supply PET preforms to ATG. TricorBraun acquired The Packaging Design Group, a Maryland-based distributor of rigid packaging. The Packaging Design Group will continue to operate under its current name and will become a division of TricorBraun with immediate access to all of its resources and options. Sprayco Consumer Products announced the acquisition of Miamica, a supplier of travel accessories. The company also announced the acquisition of Allure Style Accessories, a complete line of hair accessories. These acquisitions will expand Sprayco’s footprint in the travel and beauty markets. Evonik Industries concluded a purchase agreement to take over the start-up Alkion Biopharma SAS, headquartered in Evry, France. Alkion specializes in the development of biotechnological active ingredients for the cosmetics industry and was founded as a spin-off of the Imperial College London in 2011. The purchase price has not been disclosed. Vantage Specialty Ingredients acquired the net assets of Resources of Nature LLC. This acquisition brings new complimentary product lines for Vantage Personal Care such as active ingredients, treated powders, dispersions, specialty pigments, emulsifiers and sensory ingredients. International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. announced a partnership with Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l’Aromatique Alimentaire (ISIPCA), the French school dedicated to creating careers in perfume, cosmetics and food flavors, to establish a new three-year masters program in scent design and creation at ISIPCA’s Versailles, France campus. Takasago International Corp. expanded its natural material portfolio by acquiring U.S.-based Centre Ingredient Technology, Inc. (CIT). CIT produces natural fragrance and flavor ingredients as well as specialty ingredients for the food, beverage and cosmetics industry.
