North American aerosol product filling growing steadily… The North American aerosol products industry remains strong and growing, according to the 65th annual Consumer Specialty Products Association’s (CSPA) Aerosol Pressurized Products Survey. Aerosol product production in North America (which includes the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico) rose in 2015 to an estimated 4.602 billion units, which indicates a 1.8% increase from 2014, representing a new historic high. The survey findings are an annual indicator of the business strength of the aerosol products industry. “The CSPA’s comprehensive snapshot of the North American and U.S. aerosol industry is a powerful tool that businesses have used for more than a half century to inform planning, investment, sales, and research and development decisions,” said Chris Cathcart, CSPA President & CEO. The U.S. aerosol sector also lodged historic highs in production, with the total number of units filled in the U.S. sector alone hitting 3.832 billion units in 2015. This represents a 0.9% increase from last year, and is 17 million units higher than the 2012 total, which was previously the highest benchmark for U.S. aerosol fillings. Additional survey highlights include: • U.S. Steel container manufacturers reported a 2.66% unit increase from 2014. • U.S. Aluminum container manufacturers reported a 5.06% unit increase from 2014. • U.S. household products production decreased 9.3% from 2014. • U.S. insect spray production increased 7.1% from 2014. • U.S. personal care products production increased by 7.8% from 2014. • U.S. food products production increased 1.8% from 2014—a historic high. • U.S. paints and finishes production rose 7.8% from 2014.
