Packaging Innovations Swiss company Caprosol AS developed the Laserdom system. The Laserdom system is initially being aimed at manufacturers of tinplate aerosol cans, which are assembled by double-seaming the tops and bottoms to the body. By using lasers to weld the components together, the extra material used in the seams can be eliminated, offering claimed savings of up to 30%. Each 1.1m-square Qube LD assembling machine has the capacity to produce up to 90 cans per minute, enabling several to be set up to increase output. Fusion Packaging expanded its catalog with the new Oval Tip Airless, Prime 42mm and Prime 48mm Jumbo airless bottles and Buxom products. Oval Tip Airless has a precision teardrop shaped design to target the contours of the face. Oval Tip Airless is a single-wall applicator available in 5mL, 8mL, 10mL and 15mL capacities with a 0.09mL product output. The Prime 42mm and 48mm airless bottles offer more space for branding and a broader capacity range from 15mL to 100mL. Buxom has a thick-walled acrylic bottle with a C-shaped actuator that does not require an overcap. The airless bottle’s double-walled design offers a large canvas for brand art, and includes a variety of decoration techniques, such as vacuum metallization, hot stamping, silkscreen and custom mirror, frost or gradient sprays. Buxom is available in 30mL and 50 mL. Qosmedix expanded its airless bottle collection by adding two new black airless bottles with translucent black caps. This collection of airless bottles is helpful for maintaining efficacy of creams and lotions. The airless pump mechanism helps dispense the product down to the last drop with no air intake. Available in both 5mL (Part # 29984) and 10mL (29985), these bottles are a suitable size for product testing or travel and come in black or white bottles. June 2016 Spray 29 Premi introduced the Eau line. The bottle is a water drop shape that is suitable for a luxury fragrance brand and is available in 30mL, 50mL and 100mL capacities. The Eau line is produced with high quality glass and features a thick bottom. The bottles in the Eau line can be paired with a number of Premi’s caps and accessories and can be decorated using a number of techniques. Quadpack Group unveiled its Yonwoo Airless Spray Tube mist sprayer. The formula inside the tube is protected from oxidation and outside contamination and every last drop of the product is used, with no wastage. Yonwoo Airless Spray Tube is available with either an interior aluminium (LuxeFoil) or ethyl vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) layer, providing a further barrier against oxygen and other exterior elements. The tube can be decorated using offset, screen printing and hot stamping, while the collar can be dressed with aluminium.
