EAA Spring Meeting aerosols primarily because they are easy to use and apply, 40% of consumers would be more likely to consider aerosol products if they knew it would not affect the environment, and gender and age are important in understanding motives of aerosol consumers. Fifty-eight percent of consumers 65 and older find the ease of use beneficial when they find traditional bottles or tubes challenging to use. The survey also found that the vast majority of consumers (93%) use aerosol products in some capacity, and that the perception of aerosols being harmful to the environment is fading. The EAA has a newly elected President, Dennis Smith. In his EAA Update, Smith provided a brief history of the association, which had its first meeting in 1996. Smith recounted the partnership that developed between the regional aerosol association and minor league baseball. Recently, the EAA entered into a partnership with the Somerset Patriots baseball team in Somerset, NJ, to promote aerosols and their recyclability. The aerosol can race continues this season and a new on-field message about recyclability is played at each game. The Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) Executive Director, Sara Stickler, spoke about the awareness of aerosol abuse among children. ACE’s mission is to get the correct message out to kids and teens through literature, schools and programming. The organization will expand upon its already developed Inhalant Abuse Prevention and Disease Prevention Programs, while developing two new program areas of Poison Prevention and Product Stewardship.
