DowDuPont has spun off its specialty products unit, following the
company’s announced plans to separate its agriculture and specialty
products businesses into Corteva Agriscience and DuPont, respectively.
The separation of Corteva Agriscience is expected to occur by
June of 2019. DowDuPont CEO Edward Breen has been appointed
Executive Chairman of the DuPont specialty products spinoff.
Evonik is merging its Personal Care and Household Care business
lines together with its associated oleochemistry platform to create the
Care Solutions Business Line starting Jan. 1, to help expand into the
nutrition and care industries and streamline the organization. The
new unit will have approximately 1,250 employees and estimated
sales of €900 million ($1.04 billion). The reorganization will result in
the closure of its Milton Keynes, UK, site in 2019, Granollers, Spain,
site in 2020 and the Care Solutions Business Line’s sites in Hanau

and Schlüchtern, Germany. Future production at Care Solutions
will occur in Essen, Duisburg and Steinau, Germany; Mapleton,
IL; Janesville/Milton, WI; Reserve, LA; Hopewell, VA; Americana,
Brazil; Shanghai, China and Bekasi Timur, Indonesia.
Amcor is investing more than $25 million to upgrade its Madison,
WI facilities through 2019 to expand capacity, improve quality,
reduce waste, update technology and boost employment by 50%.
The planned investment includes new machinery and updates to
existing infrastructure to expand offerings and service to customers
in the medical, pharmaceutical, food and home/personal care
markets. The upgrade follows Amcor’s recent acquisition of Bemis
in Neenah, WI.
SILAB China has moved into new premises in the Zizhu National
Hi-tech Park. The 13 sq km campus is home to many industrial
companies and several universities to foster an environment focused
on scientific research, creativity, investment, talent and innovative
development.
Flocon, Inc. has relocated its headquarters to Woodstock, IL, featuring
an expanded 670,000 sq ft space on a 58-acre campus with room for more
expansion. There are two separate facilities onsite: corporate administrative
functions, new product development, automated assembly and quality control
in the Lakeside Center and warehousing, distribution, fluid-filling and
packaging services with eight inbound and 19 outbound shipping doors in
the Parkside Center. Flocon’s other facilities will remain at Harvard, IL,
Frankfort, IL and East Kilbride, Scotland. Formerly based in Cary, IL,
Flocon manufactures fluid applicator and dispensing systems for fine mist
sprayers, lotion pumps and valve-actuated dispensing pens.
Perfumania Holdings Inc. has launched its first concept store at the
newly constructed Denver Premium Outlets. The 900 sq ft space has a
hands-on Discovery Hub, fragrance note navigation tools, an omnichannel
Scent Gallery with more than 40 fragrances, take-home samples, curated
artwork to highlight the artistry of fragrance and mobile checkout.
Symrise has revamped its website, www.symrise.com, with a new visual
design. The portal, available in English and German, describes
the company’s portfolio, tells stories based on product applications,
gives insights into the worlds of scent and care, taste and nutrition
and provides detailed in-depth information through illustrations.
Visitors can learn how certain base raw materials contribute to
scent and care as well as taste and nutrition. Other features include
a new raw materials finder, career pages and sustainability information.
Visitors can also accompany Symrise perfumers on scent
expeditions around the world.
Azelis has opened a personal care application laboratory in Tokyo,
Japan to enhance its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and offer
performance testing and product analysis. Azelis has 15 personal
care laboratories worldwide, including seven in the Asia-Pacific.
Univar has unveiled a new beauty and personal care website,
beautypersonalcare.univareurope.com. The portal features a showcase of
the company’s latest specialty ingredients and additives for Europe,
Middle East and Africa, as well as a revamped design, improved
functionality, enriched content and connections between the latest
trends and product solutions. The new site is part of Univar’s plans
to transform the company digitally.
