The Southern Aerosol Technical Association (SATA) has changed
the location of its March 13–14, 2019 Aerosol 101 and Spring
Meeting. Now at the Atlanta Marriott NW at Galleria, the hotel is
located at 200 Interstate North Pkwy SE, Atlanta, GA. It is across

The French Aerosol Committee (CFA) has revamped its website to
offer an ergonomic site where content is easily accessible at www.cfaaerosol.
com. The new website gives general data on aerosol dispensers
and information for both professionals and the public. Up-to-date
topics are offered under News, CFA Shares (projects and actions by the
CFA and members), an “Aerosol from A to Z” glossary and link to
publications. The portal is accessible on computer, tablet and smart
phone.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration
has approved a new version
of the once-popular asthma inhaler
Primatene Mist. Made by Amphastar
Pharmaceuticals, the over-the-counter
aerosol inhaler is designed to temporary
relieve mild, intermittent asthma
symptoms in people 12 years and older.
It is expected to return to U.S. shelves
imminently, after being pulled seven
years ago due to the banning of the
inhaler’s propellant.
Under its Nivea brand, Beiersdorf will establish an innovation hub
for the next generation of Korean beauty disruptors in Seoul in
partnership with WeWork. Selected startups from South Korea will
receive access to Beiersdorf’s market reach and skin care expertise.
Selection of the initial cohort will occur in the first quarter of 2019.
Croda International Plc officially certified and launched its ECO
range of non-ionic surfactants, which are 100% bio-based and 100%
derived from renewable sources. The range also meets the criteria of
the USDA BioPreferred program. The new ECO range is manufactured
at Croda’s Atlas Point site in New Castle, DE, which is an
ethylene oxide plant fueled by naturally-derived feedstocks.
Additionally, Croda and recently acquired subsidiary Nautilus
Biosciences expanded and opened the Centre of Innovation for Marine
Biotechnology in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. Nautilus
features an automated screening system to boost discoveries of novel
products derived from marine microbes. Nautilus has a partnership
with the University of Prince Edward Island, and support from the
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, National Research Council
and the Government of PEI.
In other news, Crodarom, the French subsidiary of Croda, has
passed an audit by Halal Certification Swiss and renewed its Halal
certification at the entire manufacturing site located in southern
France. All of Crodarom’s products are now automatically Halal,
which will help meet legislations in Indonesia and elsewhere.
Merck has signed an agreement in Southern China to promote
innovation and establish a 700 square meter innovation hub in
the Guangzhou Development District. It is scheduled to open in
September of 2019 and is located near several technology companies,
startups, universities, research institutes and related facilities. The
hub will be equipped with a showroom to demonstrate Merck’s latest
technologies, innovation projects and research in the Healthcare,
Life Science and Performance Materials businesses.
BASF is expanding its plant
in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The new production building,
originally built in 1970, will
now have 600 machines and
devices, 4,000 pipelines and
5,000 measuring points integrated
into the process control
system. The expansion
will be completed in 2020
and will create 20 new jobs.
MicroCare Corp. has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, indicating
MicroCare products are developed, engineered, manufactured
and delivered using the latest and most advanced quality management
processes. The newer standard replaces ISO 9001:2008.
Updates include more emphasis on top managers leading on quality
efforts, addressing organizational risks and opportunities, using
simplified language and terms, improving tools for knowledge-based
organizations and addressing international supply chain management
issues more effectively.
Spectra Packaging has expanded its Halesworth, UK facility by 50%
to meet demand for injection stretch blow molding, extrusion blow molding
and injection molding production. The undisclosed investment grew Spectra’s
facility to 24,000 sq ft and features state-of-the-art machinery. This is
part of the company’s growth plan to double in size by 2020.
