Haumiller Engineering recently completed the construction of a
state-of-the-art, sustainable corporate headquarters and engineering
facility located in South Elgin, IL. The 56,750-sq ft building features
more floor space, an open and airy atmosphere, aluminum
panels at the entrance, exterior LED lighting, two truck docks, one
drive-in door, a 145-car parking lot and a custom stone wall for
seating around the flagpole.
SC Johnson recognized Crown Holdings, Inc., a supplier of metal
packaging products worldwide, as one of the highest-performing suppliers
at the brand’s fourth annual “Top Supplier Awards” ceremony.
Crown earned the “Quality Excellence” award for its consistent
delivery of exceptional products on a global scale, said SCJ. Crown
supplies SC Johnson with aerosol packaging for household cleaning,
air care and pest control products in a range of sizes.
Eastern Aerosol Association (EAA) will hold its annual Spring Meeting
on April 11, 2019 at the Sheraton Mahwah in Mahwah, NJ. The
EAA announced a new concept for this meeting. The all-day event
will feature not one, but two concurrent sessions offering aerosol education.
Aerosol 101 (Basic Aerosol Technology) and Aerosol 201 (Advanced

will be offered to industry
participants. Aerosol 101
will present the traditional
speakers on valves, containers, propellants, etc. Topics for Aerosol 201
will range from troubleshooting, trends and more advanced information
on cans, formulas and equipment.
In addition, Scott Carpenter, Formulated Solutions, will present
the keynote address and headline EAA’s group of expert industry
presenters. Carpenter has spoken about the over-the-counter (OTC)
market at numerous national and regional events. He is currently VP
of Marketing & Partner Innovation at aerosol contract filler Formulated
Solutions, as well as a Board member of the Consumer Aerosol

BASF Personal Care will expand its presence in sub-Saharan Africa
with the opening of a state-of-the-art application laboratory in Lagos,
Nigeria in early 2019. This location will be BASF’s new regional
headquarters for West Africa and will contain local expertise in marketing,
research and sales. BASF also intends to broaden its technical
service for ethnic African hair and skin care applications.
The 40th annual New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC)
Suppliers’ Day 2019, set for May 7–8, 2019, at the Jacob K. Javits
Convention Center in New York, NY, will feature new educational
programming and enhanced industry alliances. “Fragrance: The
Invisible Art,” will be an all-day, in-depth Fragrance Program, coproduced
with the American Society of Perfumers. The “Supplier’s
Award: Ingredients & Formulation,” will be celebrated at the show
in partnership with Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW). “Safety &
Testing” will be discussed in collaboration with German personal
care association IKW. Other features of NYSCC Supplier’s Day will

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Administrator
Andrew Wheeler signed the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
fee rule implementing the fee provisions of the Frank R. Lautenberg
Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act on Sept. 27. The new
fees apply to all submissions in these categories beginning Oct. 1,
according to the rule. The rule imposes fees for eight categories of

California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 1249, the California
Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, into law on Sept. 28. Authored
by Sen. Cathleen Galgiani and co-sponsored by the Physicians Committee
for Responsible Medicine & Social Compassion in Legislation,
SB 1249 will make it unlawful for cosmetic manufacturers to
sell any cosmetic in California if the final product or any component
of the product was tested on animals after Jan. 1, 2020, with some
exceptions for regulatory requirements. SB 1249 was endorsed by 100
cosmetics companies. California will join the EU, Switzerland, India,
Israel, Guatemala and other regions that have banned or restricted
animal testing on cosmetics.
Croda do Brasil has opened its new Innovation & Customer Experience
Centre and Speciality Polymer Plant in Campinas, São Paulo,
Brazil. A division of Croda International Plc, the new center and
plant complete Croda’s five-year improvement plan in Campinas. It
will help Croda meet growing customer demand in Brazil and Latin
America and will support innovation in many segments with new
analysis laboratories.
